Every year we return to Puerto Vallarta to donate wheelchairs and other mobility equipment to impoverished people with disabilities from Puerto Vallarta and surrounding communities. We hold a one-day sports camp teach those who receive wheelchairs how to use there equipment. We also invite those who receive equipment to visit a dolphin show in nearby Nuevo Vallarta.
Volunteers fly into Puerto Vallarta airport. We will meet you as you arrive at the airport and take you to the nearby hotel. Sunday morning you are invited (not mandatory) to go to the church service where we'll be donating equipment during the week. In the afternoon we will all have some time to get to know each other, have a short training time and orientation. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we will be distributing wheelchairs. Thursday we will host a recreation/sports clinic to show those who receive wheelchairs how to get around and be more active. We will have athletes who use wheelchairs, and other volunteers to show the participants in the camp how to play sports. Following the clinic we will take a stroll along the beautiful Puerto Vallarta Boardwalk, enjoying the views of the ocean.
Many of those who will receive the donated equipment don’t have the resources to get out of the house, so Friday we will treat them to a special event – a dolphin show at Vallarta Adventures. An incredible time of laughs, ahhs! & amazement.
Volunteers fly back to the U.S. Saturday. The cost of the trip is $750 which includes transportation in Mexico, accommodations at a beautiful hotel on the ocean, lunches during the days of the distribution, participation in the sports camp, dolphin excursion, travel insurance, and of course, a t-shirt. To sign up for the trip fill out our Volunteer Application (bottom of page) and send it to Richard St Denis. Please call or write the trip leader, Richard St.Denis (520-343-4402) for the exact dates of the trip this year.

SUMMER CAMP
|
JOIN US TO DONATE WHEELCHAIRS, MAKE HOMES ACCESSIBLE, CHANGE LIVES AND GET TO KNOW RURAL, BEAUTIFUL MEXICO!
Each summer teams from the U.S. join us to donate wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, make homes accessible, and work in the rural, indigenous communities of Mexico. You are invited to form your own team, bring your family, friends, church or social group. You can join an existing team that or you can come on our own. We invite people to do internships or stay with us for longer periods of time. During the week teams spend three days donating wheelchairs and other mobility equipment to impoverished people with disabilities, one day making the home of someone with a disability more accessible, and enjoy a tour day, experiencing various local communities, visiting market-places and restaurants, and enjoying beautiful, authentic Mexico. The cost of the trip is $750, which includes meals every day, accommodations, transportation to/from Mexico City airport, travel insurance, a World Access Project shirt, an incredible experience, and much more. The Summer Teams stay at a very nice, comfortable hotel, in the center of the small, quaint pueblo (where our Donation Center is located) called Jocotitlan. The hotel is within walking distance to our Donation Center. During the week you will have the opportunity to get to know local people, enjoy local customs and traditions, do some shopping and experience Mexican food. Some meals are provided by a restaurant located in the hotel, and we will also visit local restaurants in Jocotitlan and surrounding communities. We invite individuals, families, churches, clubs and communities to join us. If you're interested, to schedule an event, or would like more information, feel welcome to contact Richard St.Denis at (520) 343-4402, or via email at Richard@WorldAccessProject.org. In August we hold a very special camp, for 5-days, for people who use wheelchairs. The purpose of the camp is to teach them how to use their wheelchairs, play sports, conquer obstacles, and have a better quality of life. We have devotions in the morning; sports, crafts, classes de music, English, bible training in the afternoon, and bonfires, fiestas, and other activities at night. We teach them how to be more active and independent, so they can go home, be a participating member of their family and community, and be successful. This event is held at a facility, in the City of Atlacomulco, 30 minutes from our donation center, where the participants share dorm rooms, sleep in bunk beds, and use community bathrooms. Some need learning to bathe, go to the bathroom and get dressed. It is 100% Spanish without translators, and we invite volunteers who want to completely immerse themselves in the disabled, Mexican life, and be part of a camp that transforms lives. Volunteers fly into Mexico City, arriving arriving Monday, the camp is from Tuesday through Saturday, and they fly home Sunday. The cost of the trip is $500, which includes meals, accommodations, transportation to/from the Mexico City airport, and travel insurance. |
