Harmony School
Providing Christian, Bilingual Education to Students with Disabilities, to Neglected & Abandoned Youth and Others

Many people with disabilities can't go to a public school because the schools are not accessible, they have learning disabilities, or they are often bullied. At Harmony School they receive a quality, Christian, bilingual education from First grade through High School. Neglected and abandoned youth are often far behind in their education and are too old to study at their educational level in a public school. Remedial training is necessary to help them catch up to their peers. In the rural, impoverished area where the school is located a Christian bilingual school is very difficult to find, so we provide a complete education for those with and without disabilities.
The educational system We use is A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education), used by more than 6,000 schools in 145 countries throughout the world. It is an individualized, educational system, where each student studies at his or her own pace. Hazuki St.Denis is the director of the school, utilizing ten other teachers to educate our fifty students. New students are given a evaluation test, which assesses their ability, and they begin studying at their ability level. All learning materials include biblical material and bible verse memorization in English and Spanish. Those who graduate from high school are sufficiently bilingual and sufficiently educated to attend university in the United States.
We have students with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairments, Amputations, Spinal Cord Injuries and other Disabilities. We also students with no disabilities. Watching them study, interact and play together is a huge blessing, like seeing a closely knit family enjoying each other's company. The name 'Harmony' School comes from Psalm 133:1, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity' (unity in the Spanish Bible is harmonia). We presently have 41 students. 60% of them have disabilities. In this environment, in addition to receiving a quality education they learn to respect, love and interact with each other, whether they have a disability or not.
